Calgary Aboriginal Sharing Day
Calgarians are invited to learn more about our Indigenous neighbours on Saturday, May 25.
Beginning at 1:30 pm, Calgary’s Aboriginal Friendship Centre and St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church will present an opportunity to learn more about the culture of the native peoples of the Canadian plains.
Two tipis will feature native elders providing traditional story-telling. Native dancers will perform with a narrator interpreting the dance. Audience members will also be invited to join the dance.
Popular native artist, Kalum Teke, will be present during the day that will offer art display and sale by other native artists as well as art instruction classes.
The day will end with a feast prepared by native cooks using traditional ingredients.
Events will take place at:
St. Andrew’s Presbyterian Church,
703 Heritage Drive, S.W., Calgary
(two blocks from the Heritage C-Train Station)
