Rise Up: Take A Stand Youth Forum

The Alberta Native Friendship Centres Association’s Rise Up: Empowering Urban Indigenous Youth is an initiative formed to work with urban Indigenous Friendship Centre youth to define reconciliation from a Friendship Centre youth standpoint; increase youth awareness of the United Nations Declaration on the Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) & the Truth and Reconciliation (TRC) 94 Calls to Action; and to support Friendship Centre youth in gaining knowledge and understanding of community engagement. It also encourages youth to build leadership skills and a sense of personal empowerment.

As part of this initiative, the ANFCA is hosting Rise Up: Take A Stand, a provincial youth forum that will focus on providing Friendship Centre youth with tools, knowledge, and resources to increase their civic engagement and social development in their own communities. Also, to increase their understanding of UNDRIP and the TRC’s 94 Calls to Action and how to apply those within their own lives and communities.
