MEDIA INDIGENA Podcast with Dr. Margaret Noodin

Rick Harp, the host of MEDIA INDIGENA (https://mediaindigena.com), will be recording a podcast with Dr. Margaret Noodin, Anishinaabe poet and Associate Professor at the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee in front of a live audience. Dr. Noodin is the author of Bawaajimo: A Dialect of Dreams in Anishinaabe Language and Literature and Weweni, a collection of bilingual poems in Ojibwe and English. She will be discussing the importance of using Indigenous languages to understand traditional systems of social and scientific knowledge and the contemporary use of Anishinaabemowin to explore connections between climate and culture. She is in town to deliver a lecture for the University of Winnipeg’s Weweni Indigenous Scholars Speaker Series (https://www.uwinnipeg.ca/indigenous/weweni/index.html) entitled “Gijigijigaaneshiinh Gikendaan (What the Chickadee Knows): Anishinaabe Philosophy in Poetry.”
