The annual GlobalFest Human Rights Forum, presented by UNACanada – Calgary Chapter, is a FREE, 5-day event hosted in Calgary Public Library’s John Dutton Theatre from August 7-11. Our theme this year is, “Back to Basics: healing racism and discrimination through community living.” The Forum is an excellent platform for sharing experiences, knowledge, and the practical solutions necessary to address issues of racism and discrimination. Our panel discussions are titled Take Shelter, Good Work, Food Dignity and Learning Together, and we aim to highlight challenges with Canada’s life-support systems that may negatively affect our multicultural population, and articulate opportunities to overcome these challenges in sustainable ways. The Forum concludes with a performance by the Indigenous LA-based hip hop group Lightning Cloud, and the theatrical debut of TRUTH Production with its blended cast of Indigenous and non-Indigenous urban artists.
